Alain Bonnefoit (1937–)
Alain Bonnefoit is a master at portraying the sensuous curves and forms of the female nude. His works continue the timeless tradition of capturing the beauty of the female form in masterpieces of art. Born in Paris in 1937, Bonnefoit studied painting at the Ecole des Beaux Arts there. He also studied print making and sculpture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Brussels.
Bonnefoit's paintings and graphics have been exhibited in numerous galleries in the United States and Europe, including Galerie Matignon, Paris; Circle Gallery, New York; Maison de la Medicine, Paris; Thermal Palace, Vichy, France; Maison de Van Gogh, Auvers-sur-Oise, France; Galerie Arno, Florence; Galerie 1'Escalier, Brussels and Circle Gallery, Los Angeles. Bonnefoit has also illustrated several books, including Aristophanes' LYSISTRATA (1975), Voltaire's CANDIDE (1979) and Jean Giono's VRAIES RICHES-SES (1980).
