Azalea was born in Huacho, located in the northern part of the department of Lima, right by the Pacific Ocean. Later on she and her family moved to Arequipa, in the south of Peru, where she joined the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Arequipa and met her future husband, the well-known watercolorist Luis Pantigozo. In 1996 the marriage broke up and she returned to her beloved Huacho, where she is presently residing.
