Dubi Arie (1939–)

Dubi Arie was born in Warsaw in 1939. Since 1980, Arie residing in Toronto, is clearly a man driven, and has immersed himself in creating no less than a visual history of over 5000 years of Jewish struggle; struggle for freedom, struggle from tyranny, struggle for a home.

On seven seamless panels, measuring 38 by 7 feet, Arie has toiled for seven years to reconstruct the tragedy and triumph of Jewish struggle, from the seed of Abraham to the creation of the State of Israel to the redemption that may lie ahead. Called, the "Mission," based on his monumental work, "The Mission: Under the Wings of G-d and the Shadow of Amalek." Twenty years from inception to completion, this creation illuminates 4,000 years of Jewish history, beginning with the patriarch Abraham and culminating with the Redemption of the Jewish nation. The panoramic creation, which takes the form of a seven-paneled oil on canvas, radiates with brilliant color and imagery.
