Hua Chen (1952–)
Hua Chen, born in 1952 in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, is best known for capturing the timeless beauty of music and the female form in his signature, ethereal style. Chen attended the Anhui Teacher's University in Anhui, China, where he earned a bachelor's degree in fine art. He continued his education at the Central Institute of the Fine Arts in Beijing, China, where he earned a master of fine arts degree in sketching, watercolor and oil painting. He was honored for his talent in expertise through numerous awards and titles, including serving as Chairman of the Anhui Oil Painting Research Association.
Chen left China for the United States in the late 1990s, where his art career continued to flourish. He gained recognition among critics and collectors, and was included in the national directory, “Artists of Chinese Origin in North America.”
Chen was recently selected as an artist of the 2008 U.S. Olympic team, and will create official artwork for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He has exhibited his work in one-man shows in Japan, China, Hawaii and the continental United States, and his work is among the permanent collection of the National Art Museum of China.
