Paintings by Robert Cunningham have received gold medals from the Society of Illustrators in 1966-67, 1978 and 1980. His award-winning painting in 1978 was "Twin Coves," on which his limited edition serigraph, published by Circle Fine Art, is based.

Born in Kansas, Cunningham studied at the University of Kansas, Lawrence; Kansas City Art Institute and the Art Students League, New York. During 1975-76, the artist taught at the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn.

Many of his works have been exhibited in the Brooklyn Museum, American Institute of Graphic Arts, Historical Society Museum, New York and Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C.
